Nathalya Thibault, soprano
Soprano Nathalya Thibault stands out with her strong leading roles and her impeccable comic timing. She also shines in her favourite roles such as Bertha in The Barber of Seville or Duchess Della Volta in the Drum-Major’s Daughter. The critics praised her irresistible funny charm, her impeccable diction and her beautiful voice.
Recently, she interpreted the role of Dame Marthe in Faust Gounod at the Société d'Art Lyrique du Royaume. In recital she was a soloist of the Rutter Magnificat and recorded a Gospel album with the Choeur Expérience Gospel.
As a soloist, she performed various operas including Suor Angelica, The Musketeers at the Convent and Wozzeck. For the Société d’art Lyrique du Royaume (SALR), she played in numerous masterpieces such as The Street Singer (La Périchole), Parisian Life (La Vie parisienne), Offenbach’s The bandits (Les brigands) and The Drum-Major’s Daughter (La fille du tambour-major), Penzance Pirate’s from Gilbert & Sullivan, Lehár’s The Merry Widow (La veuve joyeuse), Rossini’s The barber of Seville, Bizet’s Carmen and Offenbach fait du chantage from Robert Girard. She also participated on many occasion to the Destination lyriques in La Pulperie of Chicoutimi. In 2010, she was the choral conductor of the SALR.
In recitals, Nathalya Thibault interpreted Howard Shore’s The lord of the Ring, Rutter’s Requiem, Berlioz’s Summer nights (Nuits d’été),and Frauenliebe und Leben de Schumann. In addition, she performed a recital concentrated on Mozart’s Operas and another one to Russian operas. She also created an opera-theater project named Prends garde à toi, directed by Rodrigue Villeneuve. On the theater scene, she played in Chester, fou de la Reine from Marie-Josée Paradis and in Suite et drames bref by Philippe Minyana. You can also see her perform in clown Atchoum’s DVD.
She sings in the Symphonic Choir of the Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean’s Symphonic Orchestra and in the Experience Gospel Choir. She’ll be participating in May at the McDonald’s GospelFest in New Jersey.
Nathalya Thibault studied classical singing at the Musical Conservatory of Saguenay and Theater at the University of Quebec in Chicoutimi. She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in music, theater and french education.
