Yamel Domort, soprano
Yamel Domort stands out with her rich soprano voice, solid technique and brilliant interpretation.
She is the winner of many competitions including: First place at the Sinaloa International Singing Competition in 2018 and Laureate of the National Opera of Fine Arts of Mexico Award in 2018.
Yamel Domort will sing the title-role of Verdi's Aïda in Aachen, Germany on July 6th, 2019 with Opera Classica.
Her recent engagements in 2018 include concerts with the Toluca Philharmonic Orchestra, recitals in Mexico and Gustave Mahler's Symphony No. 4 in the UNAM Nezahualcoyotl Hall, with the Eduardo Mata Orchestra.
During the 2016-17 season, she performed Abigaille's roles in Verdi's opera Nabucco and Aida at the Morelos Theater with the Toluca Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Gerardo Urban.
Yamel Domort has sung in Mexican music concerts as a soloist at various stages in the Middle East and France as well as at the National Palace of Fine Arts, Nezahualcoyotl Hall, Teatro Angela Peralta Macedionio Alcalá Theater, Benito Juarez Theater National Superior Conservatory of Music in Mexico, Bellas Artes San Miguel de Allende National Conservatory of Mexico, Museum of Science and Industry, University of the Hall, Zocalo Capitalino de Mexico, Museum of Contemporary Cultures, Guadalupe Chapel of the Cuauhtemoc Delegation, among others.
She has performed the roles of Donna Elvira of W. A. Mozart's opera Don Giovanni at the Lebanese Theater and the National Conservatory of Music. Juliet of Charles Gounod's opera Romeo y Juliette, Almirena at the National Premiere of Rinaldo Opera Version II, directed by Maestro Horacio Franco with the Capella Barroca Orchestra of Mexico.
Yamel Domort has participated as a soloist with the orchestra and Banda Sinfonica of the Secretariat of the Navy and Navy of Mexico, in various cultural places of the country. She has received institutional support and a scholarship from the founding director of Austin Lyric Opera to join the Belcanto International Institute in Mexico for two years. She was a soloist at the gala accompanied by the South Arizona Symphony Orchestra in the United States of America at the Fox Theater, coordinated with the Mexican Consulate in Arizona and director of the Rio Grande do Norte Natal Symphony Orchestra , Brazil and the Southern Arizona Symphony Orchestra, Tucson conducted by Maestro Linus Lerner.
She has been selected for master classes in operatic perfection with soprano Sumi Jo in Mexico and Monserrat Caballé in Zaragoza, Spain, as well as the scholarship of the Ars Vocalis International Festival to participate in master classes with tenor Francisco Araiza, course of Perfection Operístico of Sinaloa with maestro Enrique Patron of Rueda, improvement of the baroque style with Maestro Horacio Franco. Master's course for singers taught by professors from the School of Design and Arts Music Herberger Institute of Music of the Arrizona State University and Carnegie Mellon University from 2010 to 2012 as well as master classes with major of the opera such as; Paul Plishka, Michael Sylvester, Maureen O'Flynn, Joseph McClain, Ted Taylor, Shirley Close, Laura Brooks, John Daly, Charles Oppenheim, John Bills, Rogelio Riojas Nolasco, Linus Lerner.
She pursued her studies of singing under the tutelage of Luisa Professor Beszrukova, studies of theater and graduate dance at the Instituto Tecnológico de Monterrey of Estudios Superiores Campus Mexico, then she went on to the National Conservatory of Music in Mexico , under the tutelage of teacher Liliana Gómez and Arturo Nieto, where Yamel Domort completed her degree in singing. Among her many awards, Yamel Domort is a recipient of the National System for the Integral Development of the Family Award in 2018. Laureate of the Symphony Orchestra Award from the University of Chihuahua, Mexico. Winner of 2nd place at the International Song Contest Linus Lerner, at the San Miguel Opera House 2015, winner of the Herman Marcus Memorial Prize, Opera of San Miguel 2014 winner of the Ivan Nagy Memorial Prize, Opera of San Miguel 2013. Obtaining the stimulus scholarship to study. Finalist at the Zarzuela National Competition of INBA. Semi-finalist of the 2011 Carlo Morelli National Singing Competition and the Sinaloa International Singing Competition.
Yamel Domort was guest of honor by the Lebanese ambassador to sing at the protocol events of the Lebanese embassy in Mexico. She presented a series of presentations at the 70th Anniversary Event of Diplomatic Relations between Mexico and Lebanon and Lebanese National Week, which took place at the Museo Soumaya in Mexico.
