Leila Chalfoun, Grande Citoyenne de Saint-Eustache is also President of LM Opera Agency and FestivalOpéra de Saint-Eustache.

On May 10th, 2017, Benoit Charette - député of Deux-Montagnes, awarded the medal of the National Assembly to Leila Marie Chalfoun for her contribution and involvement in the cultural milieu of St-Eustache and on March 7, 2017, he offered a certificate from the National Assembly of Québec at the FestivalOpéra in St-Eustache, to the director-founder Leila  in recognition of her invaluable contribution to the quality of Life of citizens.

 

Leila Chalfoun has also  received the Prix Cèdre et Érable from the Chambre de Commerce et d'industrie Canada-Liban on November 28th, 2015. She has received the prestigious Order of St. Eustache in 2012. The Order of St Eustache is awarded to deserving citizens of the city of St Eustache that have distinguished themselves over the fears within their chosen fields of endeavour, and have made a provincial, national, or international impact. Last year, she received the prix Cybele 2011, which recognized the bold vision and quality of her festival programming, and celebrated the many opportunities it has provided artists working in the operatic field. On March 21st 2013, she received the award of " the Arab woman of Québec " in Arts and Culture.



She trained at the Conservatoire de Musique in Montreal, the Atelier Lyrique of the Opera de Montreal, and in New York with renowned sopranos such as Cecile Vallee Jalbert, Marie Daveluy, Bonnie Hamilton and Diana Soviero.She has performed on the biggest stages in the world (the Montreal Opera, Monaco, New York, France, Switzerland, Austria, Mexico, Middle East ...).


Since founding the LM Opera Agency in 1998 (Mulè Agency with her sister Lory Chalfoun), the agency's mandate has been to discover and launch artists on to the international stage. The agency's mandate is to launch artists in which the best characterized. Until now, the LM Opera Agency  was awarded contracts for singers in opera houses and festivals across the world.


Ms. Chalfoun  (FestivalOpera de St. Eustache founder), felt the town of St. Eustache lent itself perfectly to her vision of a summer opera festival, especially in terms of venue (Church of Saint-Eustache with its unique acoustic considered the third best acoustics in North America, the Centre d'art la petite église intimate ambiance ideal for the recital, the Promenade Paul Sauvé for outdoor concerts) and an opera festival during summer, would be appreciated by residents. Thus was born the FestivalOpéra Saint-Eustache in september 2009.
